Wanaka has a wonderful network of trails to suit every level. Here are some suggestions. Grab the bikes from the lodge and head out for a great day’s ridingor let us book you an amazing day’s ride with Freeride NZ.

The area is heaven for mountain bikers and has lots of easy trails to suit everyone.

Find your own way on the tracks below:

Lakeside trail

Take bikes from the lodge and enjoy the leisurely lakeside track into the village (5km) or keep going past he village to the stunning Rippon Vineyard and out to Glendhu Bay – a further 10 km.

Clutha River Outlet Track

From the lodge head down to the lake, turn right and head down the beautiful Outlet track as it follows the Clutha River to Albert Town ( approximately 5 km) .

Hawea River track

At Albert Town you can cross the Clutha River over the swing bridge and take the riverside trail out to Lake Hawea (13 km). An easy well maintained track suitable for all levels through kanuka groves, woodland and along river terraces.

Sticky Forest

Just up behind the lodge is a great area for mountain bikers called Sticky Forest and the stunning purpose built Deans Bank mountain biking trail

Or try the Lismore jump park for the more adventurous.

Upper Clutha River track

The Upper Clutha track starts at Albert Town Bridge and follows the Clutha River to the historic Reko’s Point Conservation Area. See century-old gold mining workings by the track (14km).

Heli bike the Pisa Range

Take a 10 minute helicopter ride to the top of the Pisa Range 2200m ( 7217ft) with Freeride NZ and descend over 1500m through spectacular high country sheep stations with great views of Mt Cook (NZ’s highest mountain), Mt Aspiring and the Southern Alps, as well as Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka. Enjoy 20 kms of old farm trails all the way to the Luggate pub.

West Wanaka cross county ride

Ride a gentle undulating trail above Lake Wanaka before entering remnant forest and shrub lands. There are a number of access points to the lake foreshore for a cool down on a hot day. These beautiful and deserted beaches have great views across Lake Wanaka to Mou Waho and Mou Tapu
islands.

Heli ride Mt Burke

Enjoy a helicopter flight, flying above Lake Wanaka and Stevensons Island before landing at 1371 m (4500 ft). Stunning views of both Lake Wanaka and Hawea from the top as you head down to Lake Hawea. The riding is easy as the trail follows a relatively smooth farmers trail to the bottom.
